About Donna

Donna Brown grew up in upstate New York and became interested in photography in high school when her father built her her first darkroom. Armed with a manual, lightmeterless, Argus C4 35mm camera, Donna quickly developed a keen sense of light and composition. Her interests in Math, Science, European culture, and Language inspired her studies in Engineering and International Business. Her love of travel led her on a life journey of exchange programs and overseas work assignments in London, Paris, Switzerland, Germany and Italy, all the while toting her  camera and darkroom equipment to each new land. During this journey, Donna began experimenting with hand coloring, enjoying the “painted effect” of the European landmarks. Donna still works in industry from her home in Asheville, however, her true passion is shooting and painting photographs of nature, children, city scenes, churches and cemeteries.  Her photography has been published in Popular Photography and Imaging.
